Holiday Shopping Tips

Milk and cookies, peanut butter and jelly, bacon and eggs, and the holidays and shopping. It seems the holiday season and shopping go hand-in-hand. While holiday shopping can be a fun opportunity to find the perfect gift for your loved ones, it also may bring on some challenges for many of us. We are going to give you 4 tips to make your holiday shopping enjoyable, easy, and dare we say: money-saving!

  • Make a list.
  • Shop online.
  • Go on the right day.
  • Go the homemade route.

4 Holiday Shopping Tips

  1. Make a list. The biggest mistake you can make when holiday shopping is shopping blind! The number one thing you should do before you make your way to the mall is getting yourself organized. Make a list of people you are shopping for and the gift you will get them. When you have a set list, this will help you to stay focused and avoid impulse purchases and unnecessary spending.

  2. Shop online. There’s a reason why Cyber Monday has gotten so popular! If there’s an option to avoid the crowded stores, long lines, and the endless search for a parking spot, while still get your shopping done, would you do it? Most likely, you would say yes. Online shopping allows you to shop for everyone on your list, all without changing out of your pajamas. You can compare products and prices easily, often get free shipping this time of year, and the product is delivered right to your door. If you haven’t considered online shopping before, this might be the year to give it a shot. You’ll knock your holiday shopping out of the park!

  3. Go on the right day. Just think about the crowd in a mall on any given Saturday afternoon. Now double the crowd. That’s what your typical mall on a Saturday afternoon in December looks like. If it works with your schedule, try to go on a weekday. Early mornings and before and after the lunch rush would most likely be the least crowded, and, more importantly – least stressful, time to go.

  4. Go the homemade route. This might be the best AND the easiest tip we have for you. You can provide a thoughtful gift and avoid shopping altogether! Make a homemade gift for your loved ones. Do you have a knack for knitting? Knit some cozy socks! Are you a talented baker? We don’t know anyone who doesn’t like homemade cookies! Going the homemade route is a way that you can stay on budget and show that you spent a little extra time thinking about your loved ones. The lucky recipient of the homemade gift will cherish it even more, knowing all of the extra love and thought put into it.

Now that you are armed with the best holiday shopping tips, you are ready to dominate the holiday season! The most important thing to remember, though, is that while gifts are fun to give and receive, quality time with friends and family always comes first. Happy Holidays!
