Fall Activities to Put on Your To-Do List



It is officially time to put away the flip-flops, swimsuits, and shorts, and break out your coziest sweaters, scarves, and boots to gear up for fall activities! Fall has (almost) officially arrived! This means cooler weather, beautiful foliage, and a chance to do activities you weren’t able to do during summer.

  1. Visit a local pumpkin patch. Find a pumpkin patch in your area and make a whole day out of it! Bring the whole family, have everyone pick out a pumpkin to bring home, and have a pumpkin carving contest! Be sure you save the pumpkin seeds for roasting as a healthy snack. Pumpkin seeds contain Omega 3 fatty acids, which is known for supporting healthy brain function!
  2. Make baked apples. When you think of fall activities, apple orchards may come to mind! Find an apple orchard and pick your own apples! Just like going to a pumpkin patch, going to an apple orchard is an activity every family member will enjoy. Eating apples can be beneficial when it comes to supporting brain health! When you and your family get home, warm up with some delicious baked apples! Simply cut your apples in half, take out the core and seeds, and put any topping of your choice on top! Brown sugar, cinnamon, maple syrup, vanilla – the options are limitless! Pop them in an oven heated to about 375 degrees for 40 minutes and you have a delicious treat!
  3. Make your way through a corn maze. There’s just something about being completely disoriented with your friends and family that brings so many laughs! Not only will you have a blast, but you will also be giving your brain a challenge by finding your way through the maze! Also, you’re sneaking in some exercise in your day from all of the walking.
  4. Go for a family hike. Spend your day outdoors hiking and taking in all of the beautiful oranges, reds, and yellows of the leaves. With the cooler temperatures arriving, hiking in the fall is a great way to spend outdoors comfortably. Walking in nature has been shown to lower stress levels and improve well-being and brain health!
