4 Ways to De-Stress Before the Holidays

Now that Halloween has passed, it’s just about time for the season of holiday dinners, family gatherings, parties to plan, holiday shopping, decorating, and more. That extra tension can hit early, and before you know it, you’re rushing about so much you forget to take care of yourself. Take some time to relax and de-stress before the holidays, and you’ll be far happier and relaxed this holiday season, whether you’re hosting or a guest at all those festivities. Here’s a look at four great ways to de-stress before things get too hectic.

1 – Set Aside Time for Yourself
As you work to plan all the perfect holiday parties and find the perfect gifts, it’s easy to get wrapped up in details. Before you know it, you’ve left yourself behind. Set some time aside for yourself so you can reset and reenergize before the holiday season begins. Spend time reading a favorite book, get a massage, or do anything else that helps you reset.

2 – Get Outdoors for Some Fresh Air
Fresh air – even when it’s cold outside – is a perfect stress buster. You don’t have to spend a lot of time outdoors if it’s frigid, but 10-15 minutes outside for a walk or jog can be a great way to clear the mind. It’ll refresh you and get you ready to tackle what’s coming. Taking a few moments to go outside is an excellent stress fighter when you’re in the middle of the holiday craziness, too.

3 – Take Time for a Date Night
Family gatherings, parties, office get-togethers, and holiday travel can leave you kissing on at midnight on New Year’s Eve, realizing you haven’t had a date night in ages. Take time for a special date night now. Focus on the two of you, enjoy some time together, and have fun going on a date.

4 – Try Meditation
Start trying meditation regularly to de-stress before you get buried in holiday festivities. Meditating allows you to focus on breathing, soothe your mind, and forget about your problems. You can use it daily to clear your mind and keep practicing it throughout the holidays.

Stress less this holiday season by taking time to de-stress now. You’ll be left with more energy so you can enjoy the time with family and friends throughout the holidays.
