3 Festive Ways to Drink Your Coffee
It’s officially here – the Holiday season. There’s holiday music, plenty of parties to attend, and festivity all around. Why not take your coffee to the next level, too, by whipping up some java that will make your taste buds sing? Enjoy the season with one of these three festive ways to enjoy your cup of joe, no matter what time of day it is.
Peppermint Mocha Latte
Peppermint and chocolate – two signature flavors of the season. Combined, they’re delightful and add some special to your cup of coffee.
What You’ll Need:
- 2 cups of strong coffee
- 3 tablespoons of sugar or sugar substitute
- ½ cup of milk (or a milk substitute)
- 2 drops of peppermint oil
- 1 ounce of bittersweet chocolate (chopped finely)
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- Peppermint sticks or candy canes crushed
Heat coffee and ¼ cup of milk on low heat, but don’t allow to simmer. Blend in the chocolate, cocoa powder, and sugar, cooking on low for four minutes. Add peppermint oil. Pour into mugs (4-6). Froth the leftover ¼ cup of milk. Top each cup of coffee with frothy milk, sprinkling with crushed candy canes. Serve immediately.
Pumpkin Flavored Coffee
Making your own pumpkin spice flavored coffee is super easy, and it’s one of the most popular holiday flavors. If you’re using a traditional coffee machine, simply add ¾ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to ¾ cup of ground coffee to make 12 cups. For reusable K-cups and Keurig machines, simply add ⅛ teaspoon of the spice to the coffee in your K-cup for a pumpkin spice infusion of flavor.
Snickerdoodle and White Chocolate Latte
There’s nothing like a warm snickerdoodle cookie around the holidays, and this coffee recipe brings all that flavor, combines it with white chocolate, and makes a festive drink you’ll want to enjoy all season.
What You’ll Need:
- 1 ounce of white chocolate, finely chopped
- 6 ounces of strong coffee or espresso (hot)
- 1 ¼ cup of milk
- ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Vanilla one touch latte (or frothed milk)
Heat milk on high in the microwave for a minute, stirring, and then heating another 30 seconds. Whisk in white chocolate, stirring until melted. Add cinnamon and vanilla, stirring until combined. Divide coffee between two mugs. Top with half the chocolate mixture in each mug. Use one touch latte, adding foam until it reaches the top of the mug. Sprinkle cinnamon on top.
