How to Simplify Your Life in 6 Steps
It’s so easy to let the busyness of life carry you, and suddenly you realize you’re just rushing through the days barely even living. Maybe you’re not taking time for yourself anymore or you don’t have down time with your family. If you’re tired of constantly rushing through life, it may be time to simplify, simplify, simplify.
It’s not always easy to slow down, but it’s worth it. So we’ve put together some easy steps you can take to simplify your life for a more relaxed pace that has you living your life, not just existing.
Step #1 – Envision What You Want
First, stop and envision what you want your life to look like. Do you want more time for yourself? Would you like to spend less time rushing? Are you longing for more family time? Simply envisioning what you want can help you get there.
Step #2 – Eliminate Unnecessary Stressors
What’s stressing you out in life? You can’t eliminate all stress, but what things are making you feel stressed that you don’t absolutely need? Get rid of those things.
Step #3 – Plan Your Schedule
Plan how you’ll spend your time. Pick the activities and actions that are important and schedule them in. Skip the things that don’t matter. Schedule your day around activities that are a priority.
Step #4 – Clean Out Junk
Decluttering, eliminating junk, and organizing your space can clear your head and simplify your life. Start small by eliminating obvious clutter first. Then you can go back and deal with drawers, closets, and other areas of your home.
Step #5 – Limit Screen Time
It’s easy to feel like your busy all the time, but how much time do you spend each day looking at a screen? Remember how wonderful it felt and how much time you had before you were looking at your Smartphone all day? It doesn’t mean you have to eliminate screen time, but limit it so it’s not dominating your life.
Step #6 – Learn to Say No
Sometimes we take on so much that we don’t leave enough time for ourselves. While it’s great to help other people, it’s important to know when you need to say no. Learn to say no to things that aren’t necessary so your life doesn’t become unmanageable and cluttered.
