How to Practice Mindfulness

Did you know you are doing light meditation when you become so engrossed in an activity that you lose track of time and you are not thinking of all the things you need to do? Gardening (click here to view the benefits of gardening), painting, yoga, running, and being in nature can all be forms of meditation
 

Here are some more ways you can be mindful:

  1. Chew your food. Slow down and be aware of sensations while you eat; turn off your electronics and think consciously about what you’re eating, how it got to your plate, and how it nourishes your body.
  2. Breathe deeply on purpose. Slowing down and focusing on your breath is a simple way of being present and mindful.
  3. Notice the good. Focus on the good to be found in your life, no matter what else you have going on.
