Madison, Wis – (February 22, 2012) Quincy Bioscience, the makers of Prevagen, announce a new online feature this week. A collection of famous, and not-so-famous, forgetful blunders are posted on the Prevagen Facebook page to call attention to a problem that faces an increasing number of aging Americans; forgetfulness.

Susie forgot her kids’ names.
Tim left his keys in the fridge.
Rob looked for his glasses while they were on his head where he left them.

Most adults have had them- those moments where it feels like you left your brain somewhere. Typically called a “senior moment”, these forgetful times can range from funny to worrisome.

Prevagen wants to bring attention to the importance of good brain health by entertaining us with some humorous episodes of forgetfulness – call them “Prevagen Moments.”

There are the famous moments we’ve all seen; political figures forgetting executive branches of the government, celebrities forgetting song lyrics, and the occasional Average Joe who forgets something important and lands on the front page of the news.

Prevagen wants everyone to know that they are not the only one that has these forgetful moments.

In fact, the whole world is full of moments that could potentially have been avoided with Prevagen! Prevagen is a one-of-a kind supplement that has proven to help with everyday memory like word recall, learning, and short-term memory.

Take a look at our new Facebook feature, Prevagen Moments. We’ve collected some of the funniest (and most embarrassing) forgetful moments.

Got a funny, famous (or not so famous) memory lapse moment? Share it with us at www.facebook.com/prevagen.

Enjoy!

Baltimore, Maryland — (September 21, 2011) Quincy Bioscience is announcing the start of the “Better Memory Tour” at the Natural Products Expo East Convention, the largest natural healthy products show on the east coast. Prevagen® is a first-in-class brain health supplement proven to help memory.

The Better Memory Tour will travel via the Prevagen Express to health food centers and health expos across the country in order to help educate the public on the importance of taking proactive steps toward better brain health. A free memory survey which assesses everyday working memory will be offered to all attendees. Participants will be given the opportunity to retake the memory assessment online at regular monthly intervals at no cost, giving people the opportunity to track brain performance over time.

The September 21st launch of the Better Memory Tour also coincides with World Alzheimer’s Day, a day set aside by Alzheimer associations around the globe to pay tribute to those currently living with, or have lived with, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, as well as to recognize the tireless work of caregivers who strive to make life better for people with dementia.

“The Better Memory Tour is an effort to reach out to communities across the country to let them know the importance of taking charge of your brain,” said Quincy Bioscience President Mark Underwood. “We believe Prevagen, along with lifestyle modifications, can make a significant difference in keeping the brain sharp in aging.”

The Prevagen Express kicks off the tour in Baltimore in September and then heads west to Seattle in October making stops in Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho and throughout Washington state. In November the Prevagen Express will be in Florida making stops in Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg and The Villages.

Future dates are still being scheduled so please call 888-814-0814 to schedule a visit to your favorite local health food store.

Prevagen was recently featured at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Paris, France, where the study, “The Effects of the Calcium Binding Protein Apoaequorin on Memory and Cognitive Functioning in Older Adults” was recently presented. The trial found that apoaequorin, the active ingredient in Prevagen, was able to improve learning, short-term memory, and word recall over ninety days in adults over forty years old experiencing memory concerns.

Madison, Wis — (June 22, 2011) Quincy Bioscience is excited to announce Prevagen®, the unique brain health supplement for memory, has won the 2011 Vity Award for the best brain health supplement.

The Vity Awards are sponsored by industry leading Vitamin Retailer magazine and honor the top selling vitamins and supplements in each category based on feedback from health food store retailers across the country.

Prevagen is the only supplement to contain the breakthrough ingredient ‘apoaequorin’, a naturally-derived protein from a jellyfish which is neuroprotective and proven to improve memory by addressing the age-related calcium imbalance in brain cells.

“We are very pleased Prevagen has become the preferred memory supplement in a short period of time,” says Quincy Bioscience President Mark Underwood. “Our customers have been telling us how much Prevagen has helped them with thinking, learning, and memory. We are thankful to receive this award confirming their experience.”

Calcium in the nervous system is a requirement for vital brain cell functions. Research has shown the natural course of aging produces calcium imbalances which affect the ability to remember. Apoaequorin helps restore calcium balance by buffering intracellular calcium and improve the health and function of brain cells leading to better memory.

Prevagen is available in health food stores and pharmacies nationwide. Retailers interested in carrying Prevagen can call (888) 814-0814.

Madison, WI (Vocus) September 9, 2010

September marks the 3rd year anniversary date of the launch of the innovative brain health supplementPrevagen®. Manufacturer Quincy Bioscience is using the occasion to announce Prevagen has reached a significant milestone ‚Äì Prevagen is now available in over 6,000 stores nationwide including both independent health food stores and Rite Aid pharmacies across the country.

“The growth in distribution reflects the growing number of customers who are concerned about their memory and is a measure of the effectiveness of the product. As a company we are very excited about how well received Prevagen has been, clearly consumers are very pleased with Prevagen and its results,” says Quincy Bioscience co-founder Mark Underwood.

“Cognitive decline in aging can occur in anyone – regardless of income, education, or geography and so it is important for us to reach consumers wherever they may shop. The customer who supports their local independent health food store may be completely different from the shopper who wants corner store convenience of a Rite Aid pharmacy,” says Tom Dvorak, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Quincy Bioscience.

Good Timing for New Technology

The baby boomer generation includes 78 million Americans who are living longer than any preceding generation and arguably leading fuller lives. It follows that demand for products which can preserve and promote health is growing. A recent report by Packaged Facts, a publisher of consumer market research, estimates U.S. retail sales of nutritional supplements exceeded $9 billion in 2009, an increase of 8% over 2008. This growth is in contrast to many other industries whose growth was negative over the same time period.

Prevagen, a brain health supplement, contains a first-in-class active ingredient called apoaequorin which has shown to protect brain cells and improve cognition in adults. Apoaequorin, which comes from a species of jellyfish called Aequorea victoria, is a calcium-binding protein. In humans calcium-binding proteins are utilized to maintain calcium balance which is critical to proper cell function. In the aging process calcium-binding proteins diminish, leaving neurons susceptible to calcium toxicity.

Apoaequorin has proven to be neuroprotective in pre-clinical studies performed at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has shown to be effective at improving aspects of cognition such as spatial working memory and executive function in human studies conducted by Quincy Bioscience.

Business Success in Difficult Times

The Small Business Administration says 66% of small businesses fail in four years. Quincy Bioscience, now in its 6th year, has grown from 3 employees in 2004 to 45 employees currently and the company plans to keep up its pace of hiring in the near future. Moving from an office space of 5,500 square feet to a building with 25,000 square feet has provided the room for future employees.

Additionally, the Quincy Animal Health division was launched in 2010 and is developing a brain health supplement using apoaequorin for the growing population of senior dogs and cats. Like the human market, pets have enjoyed better primary care and living longer lives but with longer lives come brain aging signs of cognitive decline. Increasingly veterinarians are identifying the symptoms and diagnosing Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CDS). Data of the product’s effectiveness in aged dogs are very positive. Product launch is anticipated in the 4th quarter this year.

Madison, Wis — (June 24, 2010) Quincy Bioscience, a research-based biotechnology company, announced interim results from the Prevagen Memory Study. The Prevagen Memory Study is a three-month long, randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study using both qualitative Quality of Life surveys and a quantitative, computer-based set of cognitive tests developed by Cogstate Ltd.

Prevagen showed statistically significant improvement over placebo at Day 60 in measures of spatial working memory and executive function in thirty five generally healthy adults reporting memory concerns prior to the start of the trial. The Prevagen arm showed a 14% reduction in the number of total errors compared to Day 0. The average age of this initial cohort was 61 years old and sixty eight percent of the participants were female. A statistically significant improvement was also seen in the change from baseline (Day 0) measurements. “We are encouraged by what this preliminary look at the data from this study has shown us,” said KC Lerner, Manager of Business Development.

Prevagen contains the calcium-binding protein apoaequorin. Apoaequorin has demonstrated neuroprotection in pre-clinical studies performed at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Apoaequorin was originally isolated from Aequorea victoria, a species of jellyfish found in the Puget Sound.

“The relationship between intracellular calcium imbalance and age-related cognitive decline is well-established. The data shows that Prevagen is a new tool for staying cognitively fit as we age. With 78 million baby boomers getting older every day, helping people with memory concerns is our first priority,” said Quincy Bioscience President Mark Underwood. Quincy Bioscience is also looking at several health conditions that are believed to be the result of disruptions in calcium homeostasis and intends to study the effect of Prevagen in these conditions.
